On the shores of the Black Sea lay the mythical land of Colchis. The country was ruled by the greedy King Aeëtes, the proud owner of the famous golden fleece. He kept it hidden in a sacred grove, hung from the crown of a mighty oak. The tree and the golden fleece were guarded by an immense dragon that never slept - the Colchian dragon.
This illustration is on the cover of the book Dragons.
