Thor is the lord of thunder, the most powerful of the Aesir gods and Asgard’s main protector. When lightning flashes in the sky and thunder roars, it is Thor riding in his chariot drawn by two goats, on the hunt for giants and trolls. His chief weapon in his struggle against the enemies of the gods is his hammer, Mjollnir, which has crushed the skulls of numerous giants. Thor also owns a belt of strength, Megingjord, which doubles his already considerable physical powers, and a pair of iron gauntlets that allow him to catch Mjollnir when the hammer returns to his hand after it has fulfilled its task.
